Over the years, I’ve watched many little hearts learn to handle big emotions.
Some days they roar like thunderstorms.
Other days they fade as softly as a cloud drifting by.
And that’s perfectly okay.
As a grandmother, I’ve learned that feelings aren’t problems to fix — they’re little signals asking for connection.
Here’s a comfort I offer to every family:
When a child feels seen, they feel safe.
When they feel safe, they feel calm.
Sit with them.
Let them cry or grumble or frown.
Keep your voice soft.
Let them borrow your calm until theirs returns.
And afterwards, when the clouds have passed, remind them — gently:
“Every feeling is allowed. Every feeling will pass. And I’m right here.”
Raising a little human is no small task, sweetheart.
But you’re doing beautifully.
Have you ever had a moment that quietly stayed with you?
You’re welcome to share a gentle thought below.
With warm hugs,
Yiayia 🌼
