This morning, I made myself a cup of tea before the house had fully woken up.
It was still quiet — the kind of quiet that feels soft, not lonely. The kettle hummed its familiar tune, the steam curled into the air, and I stood at the window watching the light stretch gently across the sky.
Slow mornings are a gift we rarely unwrap properly.
These days, everything seems to rush us along — appointments, alarms, notifications, the endless list of “just one more thing.” Even little hearts feel that rush, even when we don’t realise it. But this morning, I chose to sit. I chose to breathe. I chose to let the tea grow cold if it wanted to.
Sienna eventually padded into the kitchen in her socks, hair a wild halo around her head. She didn’t say much. She simply climbed onto the stool beside me and rested her chin on the bench.
“Is it a slow day, Yiayia?” she asked.
I smiled.
“Yes, my love. Today is a slow day.”
And just like that, we shared a quiet moment that didn’t need fixing or filling.
If you’re reading this today, I hope you give yourself permission to slow — even if only for five minutes. The world will keep spinning. But your heart will thank you for the pause.
Have you ever had a moment that quietly stayed with you?
You’re welcome to share a gentle thought below.
With love,
Yiayia 💛
